What Shoes Should I Wear for a Beach Wedding?
What to Keep in Mind
When deciding which type of footwear you’ll wear down the aisle at the beach, there are a few things to keep in mind.
- Sand gets everywhere and your feet might get wet.
- You can always change into more formal footwear if you change locations after the ceremony or want to wear shoes in your photographs. If you do plan to change shoes, let your seamstress know ahead of time so the hem of your dress will be the right length.
- You’ll be on your feet all day so make sure you’re comfortable.
Footwear Options
Heels simply do not work on sand so don’t even consider wearing them. If you want to add height, your best bet is a wedged espadrille as it will be less likely to sink into the sand.
If height is not a concern but you still want to wear shoes, open toe sandals or flip flops are your best options.
A Barefoot Bride
Many brides in Hawaii choose to go barefoot in order to match the casualness and comfort that comes naturally with a beach wedding.
If you go barefoot but still want to dress up your feet a little, wearing foot jewelry can give you the perfect look and will add a little surprise to your photos.
No matter which footwear your decide to wear (or not wear), be sure to get a pedicure before the big day. Everyone will see your feet and they will be showcased in all your pictures so you want them looking fresh and ready for their close up!
