What Is the Best Time of Day to Take Beach Wedding Photos?
For photos with the most flattering natural light, sunset is generally the best time of day to take them. Start your photoshoot 90 minutes before the sun actually sets. However, sunrise can also be a very beautiful and special time to take photos.
Keep in mind that if you want the sun rising or setting over the ocean in your pictures, you’ll need to be on a particular side of the island. Your wedding photographer will know the best locations.
What Time Does the Sun Set in Kauai?
You can use a Sunrise and Sunset Calculator to find out exact times of sunrise and sunset for your wedding day at any particular beach wedding location.
For Kauai:
- In the summer months, the sun sets around 7:30pm so your photoshoot will need to begin around 6pm.
- During winter months, the sun sets around 6:00pm so your photoshoot will need to begin around 4:30pm.
- If you want to take sunrise photos, it occurs around 6am in the summer and 7:15am in the winter.
What if I’m Planning a Morning or Afternoon Wedding?
Rest assured, professional photographers will take beautiful wedding pictures no matter what time of day it is! Talk with your photographer about the time and location of your ceremony and reception and they’ll know what to do to accommodate any lighting situation.
