Which Hawaiian Island is Best for a Beach Wedding?
As you know, Hawaii includes many different islands. While they are all beautiful, each one boasts a different character that you might want to take advantage of. The biggest islands of Hawaii are Oahu, Maui, Hawaii (or the Big Island), and Kauai.
Oahu
Couples looking for big-city amenities and adventure might consider Oahu, since that’s where the bustling city of Honolulu is located. Honolulu has a great freeway system, high-rise buildings, Waikiki Beach, and its own Chinatown. There are many Honolulu wedding planners to choose from because Oahu has more weddings per year than the other Hawaiian islands.
Kauai
Kauai is known as the garden island. With fewer residents, Kauai offers lush views of undeveloped land and beaches. It is home to many state parks, botanical gardens, and nature preserves. Because of the unparalleled scenery and our location, Timory McDonald Photography generally only serves the island of Kauai.
Hawaii – The Big Island
The Big Island offers variety. You have the famous Mauna Kea observatory on one side of the island, with amazing opportunities for stargazing. On the other side is Kilauea, where visitors often catch lava actively flowing into the ocean. This island alone hosts 11 of earth’s 13 climate zones, from black fields of lava to green hills and sandy beaches.
Maui
Maui offers a little of everything for your wedding. In fact, it could be called “wedding central” for Hawaii. There is plenty to do, with its world-class resorts and stunning beaches. However, Maui’s well-deserved popularity sometimes leads to crowds – even for “secluded” beach weddings.
There are some smaller, less inhabited Hawaiian islands available. Before choosing one for your wedding, we recommend watching videos and looking at many photos of each one.
